OUR PROGRAMS
An estimated 2 million children between the ages of 7 and 13 years are out-of-school. Almost 70% of children aged 14–17 years are not enrolled in secondary education. A mere 3.2% are enrolled for the final two years of schooling. Equity and quality pose major challenges. WOW Tanzania will find the at risk, gifted and motivated children who we believe can thrive. Using a needs analysis, testing, interviews, and applications, we will choose between 10-25 children per year to support, train, and provide grade school scholarships to. In time we hope to be able to offer scholarships in Science and Technology for higher education as well.
Our goal is to provide focused and targeted science and technology exposure and training to gifted disadvantage children. Teaching and guiding them in operating within a value set promoting equity and integrity. Identifying struggling single mothers and supporting them in becoming self-sustainable.
Sponsor-A-Child
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Through the WOW Tanzania Student Fund, we provide academic sponsorship for children aged 5-18 living below the poverty threshold of 100,000 Tanzanian shillings per month. This sponsorship includes provisions for school uniforms, supplies, payment of school fees, and daily lunches. By extending this support, we ensure access to education for vulnerable children, thereby contributing to breaking the cycle of poverty.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP & BUSINESS TRAINING
Through our EmpowerED initiative, we offer entrepreneurship training programs tailored for single parents and widows, alongside education programs and workshops for underprivileged children. Our goal is to equip impoverished families with the necessary skills and knowledge to secure employment opportunities or start their own businesses, fostering economic independence. Additionally, EmpowerED focuses on fostering critical thinking skills among children and providing opportunities to explore fields like science, art, and technology. These experiences aim to broaden their horizons, enhance their knowledge, and develop their skills, ultimately improving their lives and expanding their opportunities. Through our Sponsor-A-Child Program, we provide comprehensive support to children from single-parent families living below the poverty line. This includes healthcare, education, housing, nutrition, and other essential services to ensure their well-being and academic success.
WOW Tanzania Cornerstone
Additionally, our organization focuses on housing insecurity through the WOW Tanzania Cornerstone Building Project. This initiative provides housing assistance, renovation, and construction services to families facing homelessness or the risk of homelessness. Stable housing is essential for overall well-being and economic stability.
